Colossians 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
In whom? In Christ. Outside of Christ we can never find true spiritual wisdom or divine insight. One day we will all see how frail man’s wisdom is. We will see how all of his striving and posturing and reasoning is but foolishness, and those who have built their lives on it have fashioned their houses on sand.
Any quest for wisdom, any journey for knowledge, any desire for enlightenment must begin with one’s abiding in Christ, for He is the divine source of such treasures. When we stray from this, we will err. Christ must always be our starting point and He must likewise always be our destination. Though Shakespeare wrote of unchanging love when he wrote sonnett 116, he may well have spoken of Christ:
“O no! (He) is an ever-fixéd mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
(He) is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose Worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.”
When we are found in Christ and Christ is found in us, we will begin to experience the true depth of spiritual wisdom. I thank God that the ‘in whom’ spoken of in this verse resides on the inside of me. And Believer, He dwells on the inside of you
